Considered to be the country\u2019s second largest trading partner in the Middle East, United Arab Emirates will facilitate Malaysia in becoming ASEAN\u2019s most preferred destination for digital infrastructure investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With potential projects forecasted to enable 500 megawatts of data center capacity, Malaysia\u2019s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) has signed an MoU<\/a> with the Ministry of Investment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to project Malaysia as a regional hotbed for data centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industry experts suggest that the soaring demands from Southeast Asian SMEs will significantly uplift the country\u2019s status as a leading regional player in the digital economy. In that light, MITI\u2019s Minster, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz earlier stated that Malaysia is poised to take home a substantial part of ASEAN\u2019s digital economy which is estimated to cross $1 trillion by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Possessing quite a futuristic angle, the MoU is considered to be in complete sync with the Malaysian government\u2019s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 which holds a special place for AI upgradation, wherein it\u2019s needless to talk about its reliance on additional data center capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
